Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked French baguettes wafting through your kitchen. With the right ingredients, a bit of patience, and the right tools, you can bring the magic of a Parisian bakery into your home.
In this post, we’ll walk you through the step-by-step process to make authentic, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside baguettes — using our Baker Boutique Non-Stick Baguette Pan.
Ingredients (for 3 baguettes)
- 375g (3 cups) all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1¼ tsp instant yeast
- 270ml (1⅛ cups) lukewarm water
Instructions
- Step 1: Mix the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and instant yeast. Add the lukewarm water gradually and mix until a sticky dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes using a stand mixer with a dough hook until smooth and elastic.
- Step 2: First Rise
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth or plastic wrap. Let the dough rise at room temperature for 60–90 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- Step 3: Shape the Baguettes
- Gently punch down the dough and divide it into 3 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a baguette shape (about 12–14 inches long). Place them into the grooves of the Baker Boutique Baguette Pan, which helps support the shape and promotes even baking.
- Step 4: Second Rise
- Cover the baguettes lightly with a clean towel and let them rest for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
- Step 5: Prepare for Baking
- Preheat your oven to 230°C (450°F). Using a sharp knife or lame, make 2–3 diagonal slashes on each baguette. Optionally, spray a little water into the oven before baking to create steam for a crispier crust.
- Step 6: Bake
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown. Let the baguettes cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Why Use the Baker Boutique Baguette Pan?
Our non-stick carbon steel baguette pan ensures even heat distribution and perfectly shaped loaves every time. The perforated design allows air to circulate freely, giving your baguettes that authentic crisp crust.
Tips for Success
- Use a kitchen scale for precise measurements.
- For extra crispiness, place a tray of water in the bottom of the oven during baking.
- Don’t rush the rise—good bread takes time!
